The Central Balkan National Park is a perfect place to beat the winter gloom. Thanks to its central location in Bulgaria, in the southern flanks of the Balkan, this walk offers many opportunities for hiking and snowshoeing among wildlife. A visit in winter means that you will have the chance to spend the nights at the coziest huts in Bulgaria without the crowds. The roads are open year-round. As a bonus, the region is rich with hot mineral water and the winter is the ideal time to dip into its warmth.

Start of the trip
Karnare - Dermenka
You will be met near your hotel and transferred by a car to the village of Karnare. From there starts the hike to the hut Dermenka. The path is going up gently to the main crest of the mountain. From this point to the hut, the terrain is mild and safe in winter, without any substantial ascending and descending.

Hut to hut hike
Dermenka - Dobrila
Walk from the hut Dermenka to the hut Dobrila. It is a pleasant forest walk along the main crest of the mountain. All the way to the hut Dobrila provides good panoramas to the mighty peaks around. Dobrila hut is a nice spot for a night rest. In winter the atmosphere is calm and relaxed without the usual summer crowds.

End of the trip
Dobrila - Sopot
Walk from the hut Dobrila to the town of Sopot. From the town of Sopot you will be transferred back to Sofia.
